VIA Metropolitan Transit will host ANOTHER public hearings today to seek the community’s input regarding service improvements proposed for implementation on May 6, 2019.

The hearing will be held today at 5:30 p.m. TODAY Feb. 7, @ VIA Metro Center, 1021 San Pedro Ave.

Comments may be submitted at the public hearings or in writing through 5 p.m., February 22, 2019, to be included in the public record.

In his biennial State of the State address on Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott touted the state’s strong economy and workforce, highlighting the success story of J.I.V.E. Juice founder Tamala Austin. J.I.V.E, which stands for Juicing Is Very Essential, is the first juice company owned by an African American to be placed in Whole Foods.

Gov. Abbott also noted the state’s strength for African-American and Hispanic-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs.

There are 1.1 million minority-owned businesses in Texas, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Texas is top in the nation for the economic clout of its women-owned businesses. “When women succeed, Texas succeeds,” Gov. Abbott quoted
