And on this day in 1919 – The winningest coach in football was born.  Grambling University football coach, Eddie Robinson was born in Jackson, Louisiana.  In 1941 he became head of football at Grambling University and stayed for 55 years with a record of 408 wins, 165 losses and 15 decisions.  Making him the winningest coach in the history of the game.

And on this day in 1920 – The Negro National League was organized during a meeting in Kansas City at a YMCA.

And on this day in 1977 – The Philadelphia 76ers forward Julius Erving, also Known as Dr. J hit 30 points and collected 12 rebounds in a losing effort in the NBA All Star Game.  The West won 125 to a score of 124.
