And on this day in 1867 – A school was founded by the name of Augusta Institute. You know where it is? It’s in Atlanta, Georgia. It is now known as Morehouse College.
And on this day in 1931 – Award winning author, Toni Morrison was born as Chloe Anthony Wofford in Lorain, Ohio.
And on this day in 1952 – Songstress Randy Crawford was born in Macon, Georgia.
And on this day in 1995 – Myrlie Evers-Williams was elected as the chairman of the NAACP and became the first woman to head the organization. Myrlie Evers is the widow of slain Civil Rights Activist Medgar Evers.
