On this day in 1926, Carter G. Woodson and the association for the study of negro life and history first paid tribute to the achievements and greatness of black people. What the celebration of negro history week, in 1976 it officially became Black History Month.
On this day in 1988, Chicago Bulls guard Michael Jordan hit 40 points and was named MVP of the NBA All Stars Game.
On this day in 1993, Orlando Magic Center Shaquille O’Neal broke the entire backboard and to set the record straight it wasn’t just the backboard the entire stand folded during the game.
