City Council Passes Ordinance Requiring Shade for Pets
The San Antonio City Council is making sure your pets have it made in the shade.
On Thursday, the San Antonio City Council passed an ordinance mandating shade for pets at all times. Time to extend that chain and plant that tree because the ordinance calls for criminal fines of $2000 dollars and $300 dollar fines for civil penalties for violators.
Currently, animal care services receives over 3,500 calls about animals in extreme heat, so these new fines would be a boon to the budget of the city.
District 8 Councilman Manny Peleaz led the effort to protect pets from the heat.
