Happy Back to School Shopping this Weekend with the Annual Sales Tax Holiday
Written by Staff Writer on August 10, 2018
The Texas Comptroller announced this year’s annual sales tax holiday begins Friday, August 10th and continues through midnight Sunday, August 12th.
During this sales tax holiday, shoppers will not be charged state and local sales tax on school supplies, backpacks and most clothes and shoes that are priced under $100.
Shoppers will be able to purchase most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks tax free from Texas stores or from online or catalog sellers doing business in the state.
The sales tax exemption applies only to qualifying items you buy during the sales tax holiday. Items you buy before or after the sales tax holiday do not qualify for an exemption, and there is no tax refund available.
