La Prensa de San Antonio Closes Out an Era

Written by on June 18, 2018

La Prensa de San Antonio Publisher Nina Duran announced in a Facebook post Monday, June 11th that San Antonio’s largest bilingual newspaper is shutting down. The move came days after the paper announced they were planning to cease print operations.

Not to be confused with the upcoming bilingual news source, La Prensa Texas, Duran explained in her Facebook statement “La Prensa de San Antonio has no affiliation with La Prensa Texas. It is a separate company with different owners.”

La Prensa Texas is slated to release their first issue in San Antonio this Sunday, June 17th.

La Prensa de San Antonio was founded in 1913, and it was the oldest bilingual newspaper in Texas. It’s sister company, HeartFire Media, will continue under Nina Duran, as will her vlog, Bean and Chisme.
