Mayor Refuses to Debate Charter Amendment Spokesperson

Written by on September 24, 2018

A Town Hall on the City of San Antonio Charter Amendments scheduled for Thursday, September 20th between S.A. Mayor Ron Nirenberg and S.A. Professional Firefighters Association President Chris Steele was abruptly canceled when Steele attempted to send a surrogate who Nirenberg refused to debate in his place.

The Town Hall, sponsored by the Express-News and UTSA was supposed to be an opportunity for Steele and Nirenberg to discuss and answer questions about the three city charter amendments on the General Election ballot in November.

A fire union spokesperson told KSAT News “Steele did not back out at the last minute. Instead, they said, they were sending a spokesperson for the charter amendment campaign because, as these are the people’s charter amendments and not the firefighters, Chief Christopher Steele will not be attending.”

It obvious that fire in this situation continues to burn Hot in San Antonio, Texas!

The General Election Early Voting begins Monday, October 22nd and ends Friday, November 2nd. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6th.
