SAN ANTONIO – A family on the Southwest Side has to find another place to stay after a fire destroyed their home late Monday night, San Antonio firefighters said.
A neighbor called in the fire just before 10:30 p.m. at the home in the 8600 block of White Star Drive, not far from Loop 410 and Old Pearsall Road.
Firefighters said they arrived to find heavy flames coming from the roof of the home. Fire officials said firefighters had to fight the fire defensively, and that that the roof eventually completely caved in.
Authorities say the residents of the home had left prior to the fire starting, but returned just in time to see the house in flames.
The home is a complete loss, with damage estimated to be roughly $100,000, firefighters said.
Arson investigators have been called in to determine the fire’s cause.
